According to Érsek, the number of visitors to Slovakia increased by 14.9% in 2019

In 2019, 6,432,934 visitors were accommodated in tourism facilities in Slovakia, their number increased by 14.9% compared to 2018. There were 3,957,840 domestic visitors and they spent 11,452,830 nights in tourism accommodation establishments. The number of domestic visitors increased by 18.5% year-on-year, the number of foreigners by 9.7%. The Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic, Árpád Érsek (Most-Híd), informed about it at a press conference on Friday, referring to the Statistical Office (SO) of the Slovak Republic.

“It must be said that (recreational) vouchers also had an impact on tourism, mainly in the Tatras, at the thermal baths. We saw the vouchers in the regions. It’s worse in Bratislava, because there are fewer people here they use recreational vouchers, “said Érsek.

At the end of December 2019, according to the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, it provided accommodation services 4487 accommodation facilities. Their number increased by 12% year-on-year. There were 71,000 rooms with 186,200 beds available. Number of rooms increased by 7.9% compared to December 2018, the number of beds was higher by 9.1%.

According to statistics, he was also the most visited in December 2019 Bratislava region, which visited with a growth of 15.6% 131,000 persons, still mostly foreigners (65.9%).

However, according to the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, they recorded the largest year-on-year growth in the Prešov Region (by 35.1%) and the Trnava Region (by 28.4%), namely in domestic ones visitors and foreigners. The number of domestic visitors is in both increased by more than 30% year-on-year in the regions (in the Prešov region by 39.8% and in the Trnava region by 31.3%). The number of foreigners was higher by more than 20% (in the Trnava region by 24.1% and in the Prešov region by 21%).
