Iran underscores its commitment to cooperate for regional sustainable development

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said today at the UN that the nuclear agreement between his country and other world powers has created suitable conditions for regional and international cooperation, including in the field of environmental preservation.

“We look forward to cooperating with our neighbors to promote regional sustainable development through active environmental diplomacy, constructive relations with other countries, the transfer of technology and knowledge, and participation in joint scientific activities to fulfill our part for a world more sustainable and immune to environmental threats, ”Rouhani said here through the voice of an interpreter.

The Iranian president participated this Saturday in the UN Summit on Sustainable Development and in his speech also highlighted his country’s commitment to achieving the Goals of the new development agenda for 2030. An incentive, he said, in which Iran has worked in a constructive way.

The president of Iran also alluded to the devastating effects that terrorism has on the development of many countries.

He noted that terrorism tends to grow and thrive in areas affected by environmental disasters and spreads across borders.

“Terrorist groups break the objectives of sustainable development and the continuation of this situation generates more poverty and destruction of the environment,” Rouhani stressed.
