Real estate taxes have risen in almost every city. Where do you pay the most?

In 2020, entrepreneurs and residents will pay extra for property taxes in almost every city. Cities are beginning to show interest in introducing local development fees in order to increase their revenues.

“In 2020, real estate taxes in general in the Slovak Republic jumped increased. In the Business Alliance of Slovakia (PAS) we do not doubt that it is more appropriate in the tax mix to burden more property than labor, as property taxes place a greater burden on those who have property, ie high Taxes and levies on labor affect everyone, even low-income ones a barrier to increasing their revenues, “said the PAS Executive Director Peter Serina.

The highest increase in taxes was felt by: Brezno (126.7%), Kežmarok (86.5%), Bratislava III. (61.7%), Bratislava II. and V. (61.1%), Moldava nad Bodvou (56.6%) and Levice (56.1%). He will pay the least in taxes this year as well entrepreneur in Medzev, 666 euros per year. Among the cheapest cities for Entrepreneurs also include Medzilaborce (850 euros) and Svidník (1406 euros).

For a model property with a hall area of ​​1000 m2 and a plot of land with 1500 m2 the entrepreneur pays the most in almost all districts of Bratislava, namely from 6612 eur to 7125 eur. In Púchov, the entrepreneur pays in the same way as before year – 6449 euros per year. Apart from Bratislava, there are also high taxes in Košice (EUR 6120), Banská Bystrica (EUR 5080) and Nitra (EUR 4685).

Compared to last year, average construction taxes have increased by 34.51% and taxes on dwellings by 38.86%. Land taxes have risen on average by 26.48%. Slovak cities adjusted taxes significantly more than in the last years. They increased taxes in Ilava by more than 100% on average (112.49%), in Košice (110.44%) and Trnava (109.26%). They also felt rapid changes residents of Kežmarok and Poprad, where real estate taxes increased on average by 95%. Significant changes also affected other places.

Introduced development fees have hardly changed this year. It has undergone adjustments Bratislava’s Devínska Nová Ves district, where rates have risen, and so they reached the same level as in other parts of Bratislava. Fee for development also increased the city of Senec.

The figures for the database were obtained by the PAS from city officials or from general binding regulations published on the website places and from Act no. 582/2004 Coll. Data on tax rates and the amount of taxes correspond to district city centers and are listed without exception.
